We always live the lives of others. Except ours
At 30 years old, I can say that I have lived. Yes. I have lived a whole life. But I have not always lived it my way. Because of social pressure. Family pressure. And for everything else that surrounds us. We always live the lives of others. Except ours.
Up to 16 years old, I lived with my great-grandparents in Oaxaca. A Mexican state in the southeast of the great republic of the United Mexican States. Yes. That is the official name of our phenomenal country that we call Mexico. If you didn’t know. Do not worry. I found out its official name until I was 24 years old. It was that year that I started to rebel myself against myself. I began to challenge the principles instilled by my family and my community. Yes. When I was 10, I rebelled against the Roman Catholic Church.
With only 10 years of age and I started questioning on why we had to tell the padrecito(the little priest) the things we did.
Yeah! the confessions were the most difficult. Since I never knew what to say. Most times I went and asked my little friends on what to say to the man with the flowery outfits. Their advice and answers were not very helpful. Since they only told me the following. “Well, just tell him your sins and that’s it. So if as an adult I realized that if I had the guts to do this at ten, why not create new game rules now that I was already independent and of legal age.
That was exactly what I did. This was the perfect age to go against the status quo and create new paradigms as when I was ten. It was at this age that I began to think critically. Without being too arrogant, of course.
I think this is the shortest article I have ever written. But it doesn’t matter. It will be easier for you to read it. Now in the next articles I want you to make your own conclusions on why I write and express myself this way. If you live or have lived in the United States, you may identify yourself. If not, go with the flow and get to know a bit more of another MexiCAN(me). And how complicated we can be as individuals(MexiCANTs).
Pero espera, aprende Inglés para que puedas comentar y entender todo lo que escribo. ¿Sí?
